MY EXPERIENCE WITH DOTS

I have been a DOTS provider at Medavakkam for the past 8 years.
At present we have successfully treated and found complete cure in 70 % patients .DOTS treatment gives me a complete satisfaction as I see the patient from the initiation to the completion of treatment (personalized approach).I see the patients suffering from the disease to recovery /cure state .
On this occasion , I wish to thank the REACH DOTS Providers /Co-ordinators , particularly the Supervisor at our centre who is very sincere , honest and trust worthy .If not for his efforts , we would not have spread the DOTS message in our area .

I have been a DOT prescriber for more than 2 years at the DOTS centres in Andhra Mahila Sabha and CSI Kalyani Hospital .I am an admirer of REACH and its work towards controlling TB and its awareness programmes ..Kudos to their dedicated staff and their services …
As a specialist in Tuberculosis , I would like to ponder on a few suggestions too .Even with intense counseling about the disease ,I see a few drop outs due to side effects of some Anti Tuberculosis Drugs in the initial period of therapy .Also in some specific cases those with co – morbid illness, few drugs can’t be administered .Due to fixed and rigid combinations we cant prescribe DOTS in these conditions .So if any flexibility in the regime ( only in special circumstances )can be provided ,it would be fruitful .
I would like to congratulate REACH and its staff for their efficient work towards controlling this dreadful disease .
