1. REACH Celebrated its service in the field of TB care and control for a decade on two days February 13th in a community function at the Russian Cultural Centre to inaugurate the Speak Up To Stop Campaign and the REACH TB Help Line and on February 19th in the Clive Hall at the Taj Coromandel to felicitate its staff and management, as well as to give out the media awards.
2. On the occasion of the World TB Day, REACH (Resource group for Advocacy and Education for Community Health), a Chennai based Non-Governmental Organization together with the “Lilly MDR TB Partnership” announced a “WRITE TO WIN” AWARD for journalists, video and audio jockeys. Awards have been instituted under different categories at both the National and State level for regional as well as English languages. This creative endeavor aims to encourage dissemination of TB related health news. Interesting and creative television and radio spots will also be considered under the initiative. Human interest stories on tuberculosis, success stories of the TB control program, challenges encountered by the TB patients in terms of difficulty in accessing treatment, stigma issues, TB related cartoons, photographs etc can be featured. These articles/spots should also be posted in the www.media4tb.org blog section. An eminent panel of judges will decide upon the winners. The nomination for the Award is open for a period of one year and the winners shall be announced on World TB Day- 2010. For more information, log onto www.media4tb.org
3. REACH is a non governmental organization based in Chennai working in areas critical to community health. Some of the key areas of focus of REACH are in creating public awareness about tuberculosis, the national TB control program and for facilitating public private partnerships in TB control.

The Lilly MDR-TB Partnership is a public-private initiative that encompasses global health and relief organizations, academic institutions and private companies and is led by Eli Lilly and Company. Its mission is to address the expanding crisis of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). The partnership is pursuing a comprehensive strategy to fight MDR-TB through increasing drug supply at concessionary prices; research; providing training in prevention, treatment, and surveillance; promoting awareness and community support programs and sharing drug manufacturing technology with nations most at risk of MDR-TB.
